Agate Scotland

This is an agate showing a wonderfully stark contrast of colours. An island agate, with an area of dark grey fortification that has seemingly formed within the quartz crystals, which is again surrounded with an area of pink, orange, light-grey and white fortification agate, displaying a high contrast with the deep colour in the nodule's centre. It was found in the beach shingle close to a cliff, in an area that is sparingly productive of mainly small agates, predominantly in orange, blue-grey and brown tones.
