42mm x 23mm

Here we have another very fine fortification and onyx patterned stone from St Cyrus. This is the most spectacular of the two best agates of this type I found during 2015.  I believe that this agate was picked-up by myself during the July of that year. Its mate, when cut (also by myself) was gifted to the polisher, it is my belief that as with art, agate should be shared amongst appreciators without particular emphasis on monetary value.

I keep hoping to see something similar to this stone on subsequent visits to the area it was found, but I am generally disappointed. In particular, the fine detail in its onyx centre makes this stone special to me. Unless I can locate something larger and more complex, I suspect that this will remain the finest coloured agate I have in my possession from the area.
